Happy Happy Tuesday, you wild and crazy love birds! This Tuesday Tip dives into the details of not the most glorious part of the wedding planning process, but certainly one of the most important:: The Wedding Budget. If you’re like many couples, the planning of your wedding started before you even received that gorgeous ring. But now that the story can be told and that ring is being shown off, the real, down and excited wedding planning begins. Hoorah!
First step: The Budget
Perhaps the wedding day budget is not the most glorious part of the wedding planning process, but nonetheless, extremely important. In fact, as an experienced Wedding Planner and Coordinator it causes me a bit of heartburn to think of planning any event without first having a budget in place.
So, here is the deal: There is no concrete way to form your budget. There is always the need for a little wiggle room, room for the extras, and space for the personal touches. But, as I advise Westland Farms Studio couples on forming their budgets, we follow the below guidelines…Always leaving a little room for change.
The percentages listed here are a guide.
Apparel: 8% of your overall budget
Flowers and Décor: 8%
Reception: 50%
Visual Media: 9%
Music & Entertainment: 6%
Ceremony: 2%
Wedding Day Transportation: 1%
Day Of Wedding Coordination: 8%
Stationary & Gifts: 5%
Extras (wiggle room): 3%
When planning your wedding budget, don’t forget tips. They will likely not be built into contracts or vendor quotes.
Thank you, as always, for stopping by!
Until next time~
