Hi Brides and Grooms! Back on this Tuesday with another wedding planning tip. But, this time we are not chatting about your wedding day. We are taking a look at planning a honeymoon.
I mean, planning a wedding is fun. But, honeymoon planning can be super fun, (and super distracting!). With every place in the world to choose from it can be hard to narrow down your top choices. Check out the top five honeymoon destinations for 2020 based on the nature of your ideal honeymoon!
Relaxation
These are the best hot spots for a honeymoon where quality time together and luxurious rest are the top priority. After all of that wedding planning you’ve earned it!
Splurge :: the Maldives – honeymoon in luxury on a small private island in your own overwater bungalow, small resort, or treehouse. The water is crystal clear and you can see coral reefs and all kinds of sea life from any of the small atolls and coral islands in this stunning country in the Indian Ocean.
Affordable Option :: Bali – yes the plane tickets may cost you, but once there you can enjoy beautiful accommodations, jungles, stunning beaches, yoga, and fresh farm to table food for a small price tag on this Indonesian island. As an example, a nice hotel can be had for around $35 per night!
Culture
What better opportunity to spend time immersed in a vibrant new culture than the once in a lifetime event of your honeymoon? It sets the bar for your future travels as a couple.
Splurge :: Italy – choose one region or tour them all – the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Tuscany and Florence – all in one country and some of the most romantic, culturally rich places on earth. If ancient history and Renaissance art are on your honeymoon bucket list Italy meets all the criteria.
Affordable Option :: Puerto Rico – with plane tickets to be had in the $200s and no passport needed, Puerto Rico is an incredibly affordable way to escape to a beautiful island for your honeymoon. Spend a few nights in Old San Juan with its’ 16th century buildings, cobblestone streets and epicurean cafés and enjoy the mild weather, artsy bars and coffee shops. Our favorite in-town spot near the airport boutique hotel the Dreamcatcher where you’ll enjoy lounging hammocks, on-site yoga, outdoor kitchens and feel like you’re living in a painting for less than $200/night
Cuisine
Are you and your new spouse majorly into the food scene? Would you love nothing more than to spend a week eating your way through the most delectable top-rated meals around? These hot destinations are sure to satisfy your honeymoon appetite!
Splurge :: Paris, France – for the true epicurean experience, Paris offers over 100 Michelin starred restaurants. I can’t think of many things more romantic than strolling the streets of Paris with the newly wedded love of your life.
Affordable Option :: Charleston, South Carolina – As a recent Fortune Magazine article notes “Charleston’s Food Scene is Stronger than Ever Right Now”. With hundreds of award-winning and unique restaurants in all price categories you will not run out of new and exciting places to eat.
Adventure
Sitting by the beach drinking cocktails eating your heart out at an all inclusive resort for days on end not your thing? Book an exciting adventure honeymoon at one of these top spots for 2020
Splurge :: Kenya, Africa – Explore endless Savannahs full of zebras, giraffe and other African wildlife, stay in a luxury safari camp, enjoy a hot air balloon safari and spend time lounging on a pristine beach – there’s nothing in the world like a honeymoon in Africa.
Affordable Option :: Exumas, Bahamas – Charter a Sailboat and spend your honeymoon learning to sail in and out of this beautiful chain of 365 islands and keys at the outer edges of the Bahamas in the Caribbean. Just be sure to book during the times of year the seas are calm if you’re not an experienced sailor!
