Hello friends! It has been a bit since I branded my first business. Well, almost 20 years ago. But, I will never forget the huge learning curve of figuring it out as I went. 🤦🏼♀️ I didn’t have anyone to guide me. I just jumped in- that’s kinda my personality. Ha! I remember how many times that I had completed a process, only to realize I had not used best practices and had to go back and do it all over again. Anyone else been there? 🙋🏼♀️
One of the biggest mistakes that I made as a new small business owner was to push forward without a clear understanding of what my brand LOOKED LIKE. Then, I moved and rebranded. Again, without a CLEAR picture of the end goal. Frustration and feelings of failure were huge. I really cannot stress this enough. I will tackle the thoughts and process behind building a brand in a later blog. Because today I want to chat branding photography and head shots.
Since the start of imagery there has been this preconception that “professional” meant “studio” images from the mid-chest line up. And while those are can be very important images for many of us to have in our back pocket, digital photography and the world of social media has vastly changed the make-up of a professional branding photography session. And, that calls for three cheers! 🎉🎉🎉
Messes + All Branding Photography Sessions typically do include those traditional head shots, with or without a backdrop. But, they also leave a little of that tradition behind creating images that really include personality, trade, and creativity. Gone are the days of boring branding. Today, if your brand doesn’t stand out… It will get lost.
Let’s collaborate to create images that will grab attention and help you transparently connect with those to whom you are marketing. Put your best foot forward the first time around.

Eryca Nelson-Michaub was one of my FIRST Branding clients back in 2019, recording her new Contemporary Christian Album (she’s amazing!! ✨) and needed images for her CD as well as other marketing material. After a few phone calls, we had a plan::
Eryca’s Goal::
Brand a New Music Album titled ‘The Way’
Stay Clean, Conservative and Classic
Include Instruments
Photograph Outdoors
Look Her Very Best Self {she is amazing, so that wasn’t so hard 😊)
Create Images that She Could Use Across All Marketing Platforms

She Nailed It ❤️
